harry potter and the cursed child book review

I imagined it, not as an overlapping fantasy world as I did with the novels, but as the play it was supposed to be and it created such a wonderful freshness. Impatience won out though, and I could not stop myself from buying it. I was worried that without this, I would find the story unsatisfying. The stage creates in own magic, and I believed that The Cursed Child would take full advantage of it and could only be fully appreciated within this context. Initially, I was apprehensive about reading the script I believed I should wait until I could see the theatrical production, since I knew that so much of the magic within this new addition to the Harry Potter world would be lost in dialogue. It does need a pretty solid knowledge of the previous books, particularly Goblet of Fire though. It may not be my favourite book (that will always be The Goblet of Fire), but it was a pretty good read. If it were a novel, the amount of time and story would have felt rushed, but not as a screen play. It is fairly short (I read it in three hours), but that was fine with me. Neither character is perfect- in fact, Harry says a few things that would make any parent gape in horror, but I think that was needed, to alleviate some of the 'perfectness' Harry has previously been written as. It is also about the great burden it must be to have a name like Albus Severus, and being raised by a man like Harry Potter. While being as spoiler-free as possible, The Cursed Child is mostly a book about Albus and Harry, and their relationship towards one another. I doesn't have the depth that comes from the novels, due to the nature of reading screenplays, but it does provide insight into each of the characters, and their relationships towards one another, without the tinge of bias that normally comes of reading everything from Harry's perspective. I think the best way to describe The Cursed Child was that it is a lovely story. There are some real emotional moments in the play.most especially with Severus Snape.and a few with Draco Malfoy.tissues recommended What none of them expect is to be blindsided by the fact that not all is what it seems and a new enemy a dark enemy is rising rapidly.Ĭan these five adults along with their sons stop the witch from reaching her father and changing history? Nothing is the way it should be and it’s up to Harry, Hermione and Ron with the help of Ginny and the unlikely hero Draco Malfoy to set thing right. They set out on a mission to change the past but completely mess it up a few times. However this does not stop the two from becoming best friends.

Being the son to the great Harry Potter hasn’t come easy for Albus Severus Potter nor has life been easy for Scorpius Malfoy with the rumours flying around the wizard it world about his parentage. It’s 22 years after the battle of Hogwarts and the best friends Harry, Hermione and Ron are much older and parents themselves.
